Brawn appoints Lucian Weston to further strengthen senior leadership team

Brawn – the only connected community lifting app designed for lifters and strength trainers within a gym facility launched – has already made a significant impact on the industry since launching in 2022.

As part of the next stage of development, Brawn has appointed Lucian Weston as strategy advisor. Weston was formerly a digital and business development director at PureGym and also previously worked as a strategy consultant at PwC.

Weston has a clear vision to support Sohail Rashid – Brawn founder and CEO – and the team to refine the company’s offering as the industry begins to embrace digitalisation within fitness facilities.

Weston said: “The fitness industry can learn from other industries when it comes to implementing and delivering technology to the end user. Digitising the gym floor should be a priority for operators and strength training is no exception.

“Brawn is the best example of a company trying to solve this problem.”

He added: "Brawn's mission to make strength training more accessible is crucial, in particular as strength training increases in popularity and there is growing evidence of the long-term health benefits.

“Providing education, support, and community for gym members and personal trainers alike can have a significant impact on membership retention and personal training income."

Rashid commented: “We’re delighted to have Lucian on board, his input on product strategy and gym partnerships will help make Brawn available to more people, across the globe.

"He oversaw the digital transformation at PureGym and has the inside track on innovation in this space, having created their app, which was rolled out across the UK, US, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The app even became the Health and Fitness App of the Year in 2021, with over 1 million monthly users.”

Rashid has continued to develop the company’s product offering, following significant engagement with key customers. With the obvious return on investment for clubs with new product features, Brawn is set for significant growth for the rest of 2023 and beyond.

“For gym operators and personal trainers, they can expect to see better connections between members that enjoy lifting and increased lead generation for small and one-to-one personal training.”
